  • Valid nursing license
  • Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing with at least three years spent in training
  • IELTS (minimum score of 6.5 in the writing section and 7 in the reading, listening, and speaking sections) or OET (level B with C+ written qualification)

Process Overview

NMC

First, create your account with the Nursing and Midwife Council (NMC), professional regulators of all nurses, midwives, and nursing associates looking to work in the UK.

Third Party Verification

Alert your country manager about your registration with the NMC as they must be prepared to respond to the NMC as soon as possible!

CBT

You’ll schedule a Computer Based Test (CBT) at your nearest Pearson VUE testing centre.

Health Declaration Form

You’ll need to secure a declaration of good health from your registered medical practitioner.

This report cannot be older than six months by the time you upload it.

Character Evidence

Now you’ll need to secure a declaration of your good character. This process requires three parts: a self-declaration form, a police clearance certificate, and a nominee who will supply supporting documentation.

Evidence of Language Proficiency

It’s time to get your documents in order! You’ll need to organize a copy of your IELTS certificate/TRF number, or your OET certificate(s) and candidate number.

Confirm Professional Indemnity

We’re getting closer!

You need to personally ensure that the appropriate insurance cover is in place before you begin work in the UK.

Check with your employer or insurance provider to confirm that you have the right professional indemnity.

Finalize Your Application

You’re almost there! Once your application has been submitted and your fee is paid, the NMC will contact your referees and your application will be finalized.

The NMC aims to assess your application in 35 working days and will make a decision no more than three months after receipt of your application. Once they have reached a decision, they will email you with the results of your application as well as the next steps.

Job Offer

Once you’ve passed a job interview and signed your offer letter, you’ll be issued a certificate of sponsorship which, together with the decision letter from the NMC, secures your visa and flight to the UK.

You’ll soon be on your way!

Deployment

Upon arrival in the UK, you’ll be required to take the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE). Before passing the exam, you can begin working as a Nursing Assistant (Band 4).

Afterward, you can begin working as a full-time nurse in the UK!
