It depends on your level of readiness:

  • If you have not started your application, you can count between 6 and 9 months to be deployed (IELTS/ OET, NMC, CBT, client interviews, compliance / immigration). 
  • If you are UK ready (IELTS/ OET and CBT passed) you could be deployed in 2-3 months. 
Yes. You need to score a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 7 in the remaining areas in the Academic IELTS.
Yes. Minimum of C+ in the writing section, and at least a grade B in the reading, listening, and speaking sections.

The NMC will accept combined IELTS or OET test scores on provision that:
– You sit the tests within six months of each other

-you are tested in all four sections at the same time

– all scores in both sitting are not below 6.5(IELTS) or C+(OET)

– you achieve at least 6.5 in the writing section and at least 7 in the reading, listening and speaking sections in either of the two test sittings(IELTS)/ You achieve at least a grade C+ in the writing section and at least a grade B in the reading, listening and speaking sections in either of the two test sittings(OET).

Yes, your partner and children can apply to join you if they are eligible. *Partners & dependents need to apply and pay for Visa/ Travel costs. We suggest bringing family & dependants over only once you have successfully passed the OSCE.

The contract offered by permanent employers would usually require nurses to commit for at least three years which is equivalent to the visa duration. After 5 years in the UK, you will qualify for indefinite leave to remain.

OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)

Minimum of 12 months nursing experience in a similar role as applied for.

  1. Take IELTS or OET and achieve desired pass level/grades.
  2. Start NMC registration, undertake the CBT and submit documentation.
  3. Complete online interview with potential employer.
  4. Receive offer letter from employer.
  5. Receive a certificate of sponsorship and apply for a tier 2 Visa.
  6. Book flight to the UK.
  7. Arrive in the UK and start working in your new role.
  8. Pass the OSCE to receive your NMC Pin and become a registered nurse in the UK.

When you apply, you don’t need to have your CBT. Ideally we would prefer it if you have booked your CBT, but you don’t have to pass your CBT to apply for vacancies.
